King of Glory

In this retreat, you will learn how to paint an icon known in the East as “King of Glory.” It depicts Theotokos (Mother of God) holding dead body of Christ laid into the tomb.
We will use traditional egg tempera on gessoed wooden panels. At the end of the retreat, you'll be able to take home a beautiful icon painted by yourself, the fruit of many hours of hard work and prayer.
<strong>This retreat is meant for iconographers who already have some experience with egg tempera, not for beginners. It will require some degree of independent work.</strong>
